If you want to increase the capacity of your partition, you can disable Hibernation that is set "on" (default) when the computer is formatted. When you hibernate your computer, all the data stored on RAM will be saved on the hard disc so if the RAM's capacity is 512 MB, the HDD (Hard DIsc Drive) will need 512 MB space. When you disable hibernation, you will save these 512 MB space. To do that:
Open the Control Panel then open Power Options
In the "Power Options" window, choose "Hibernate" options
In the "Hibernate", remove the check mark from "Enable Hibernation" and click OK
Do that if you do not need hibernation although I don't recommend to apply it in old computers because probably it won't work.

Also there is another way to increase the free space of the hard disc by deleting the system restore points that are used to restore the system to a previous state if an error occurs. Although I don't recommend it but here is the way to do that
Open My Computer and choose the drive that contains the system directory (Usually C
Right click on it and choose Properties
Beside pie graph, click on "Disc Cleanup" and wait
A new windows will appear, choose "More options"
Under "System Restore", click on "Clean up"
N.B: You can also delete the temporary files but be careful, all the webpages won't be available anymore because they are safed in a file named "Temporary Internet Files"
(Restore points are important for recovery purposes but if you don't use them, delete them!!)

Also you can save space by decreasing the size of the pagefile "decreasing the size of the virtual memory". To do that,
Open the properties of My Computer
Choose "Advanced" then under "Performance" click on "Setings"
In the new windows, choose "Advanced" from the upper options
Under "Virtual memory", click on "Change"
In the new window and under "paging file size for selected drive", decrease both the Initial and the maximum size. (The maximum size should be greater that the initial size)
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS WAY AT ALL BECAUSE IT WILL DECREASE THE PERFROAMNCE OF THE SYSTEM
